The hidden outdoor museum of Puerto del Carmen
The avenue that stretches almost from Los Ancones to Puerto Calero, crosses the entire tourist area of Puerto del Carmen. A place to go for a walk and let yourself be stepped on, in that area, by the wheel of tourism at the same time that you get imbued by the beautiful east coast of the island of Lanzarote.
The topology gives name to three of the outlines that draw the orography of Fariones. The transit between Punta de Cima and Punta Montañosa, passing through Punta Lima is pleasant despite the rocking of the almost imperishable wind that accompanies, as a guide dog, to passers-by. It is in Punta Lima, about three hundred meters away with the Hotel Beatriz, where, if we look at the opposite side of the sea, we can stop at a park different from the rest of the parks in the area.
“Are they sculptures?” You hear. Yes, they are sculptures. A series of works decorate the journey from the beach to the Hotel Nautilus Lanzarote. Or viceversa. In 2014 this same hotel decided to share some of the works that were available in its artistic fund with all tourists and, ultimately, with all of Lanzarote.
Works by Iñaki Olazabal, Sergei Karev, Koldonika Jauregi or Irene Anton decorate the previous rofe to a day of salt, jable and solar cream. A kind of open-air museum that is not discovered but you have an all-inclusive bracelet or if you do not have the luck to live near the sea.
Residence for artists
Nautilus Lanzarote has a residence for artists called La Casa del Artista, to which each year they are invited around 15 artists who have been previously selected by a committee of experts. Today, more than 80 artists of 18 nationalities have passed through it.
