Within the cultural and artistic landscape of Lanzarote during the twentieth century, the figure of the sculptor Pancho Lasso (Arrecife, 1904 – Madrid, 1973) is fundamental to understand and approach the transit to the contemporary that is operated on the island. Therefore, the art historian Arminda Arteta will address not only her artistic and ideological link with the Surrealist movement of the Vallecas School, but also her social and artistic commitment to the languages of the historical vanguards, as well as the transmission of aesthetic values of the insular landscape to a young César Manrique.
