Last chance to visit the exhibition ‘Buches y Diabletes’

The exhibition ‘Buches and Diabletes’, curated by the musician and publicist Benito Cabrera, will be available until this Saturday, April 6 at La Casa Amarilla in Arrecife. The exhibition takes a tour through many of the manifestations of the rural, historical and heritage Carnival that took place in the Canary Islands, and their links and influences with other parts of the world.

In Lanzarote, in particular, two ancestral traditions linked to the Carnival cycle are preserved, which are an example of this type of expression: the Diabletes de Teguise and the Buches de Arrecife. Both manifestations constitute the protagonist elements of this exhibition.

The exhibition has been visited so far by more than 2,000 people and has had a large attendance of schools on the island, for which didactic guides have been made at the primary and secondary levels in order to complete the visit pedagogically.

On the traditions of the Carnival of Lanzarote, exclusive images made by the photographers Nico Melián and Joaquín Vera have been produced and created. In addition, the exhibition includes audiovisual pieces and a short documentary whose author is the video creator David GP. But, in addition, the exhibition ‘Buches y Diabletes’ exhibits carnival expressions and customs from other parts of the world, many of which bear symbolic parallels with our ancient carnivals. All this with a very careful exhibition aesthetic approach that has run by the young designer Carmen Corujo Lanzarote.

The Yellow House is open to the public from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 8 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm.
