The archaelogical areas of Zonzamas and Fiquinineo can already be visited by the the public
Lanzarote has received this week the good news that two of the most important archaeological sites in the Canary Islands can already be visited by the public. These are the deposits of Fiquinineo (Peña de Las Cucharas) and Zonzamas.
Recently, new research and excavation campaigns have been undertaken to continue exploring the origins and the most recent past of the island, through the archaeological remains found in these two sites that date back to the aboriginal era of the ‘majos’ (previous to the year 100 before the current era), to later settlements with the occupation of different human groups.
The visits can be made every Thursday at the Zonzamas site, and on Fridays at the Fiquinieno, between 10:00 and 1:00 p.m., with one hour per visit. The guided routes will be organized in three shifts with a maximum limit of 20 people.
Those interested in doing any of the visits to these sites must register in advance, by calling the Telephone Service of the Historical Heritage of the Cabildo (928 81 01 00 ext.:2307) or by sending an email to dorym@cabildodelanzarote.com.
