Carmen Hernández is reunited with the sculpture she inspired to honor the arrival of water in the south of Lanzarote
A few weeks ago, in Tías, a sculpture was erected in homage to the arrival of water in the south of Lanzarote coinciding with the construction of the great cistern and the mareta that supplied the region.
The sculptor Julián Bermúdez Mesa noticed a real peasant living in the town of La Asomada to make a real size mold for his new artistic work. The visit of the peasant Carmen Hernández, 93 years old, to see the final result of the sculpture served as the end of the water cycle in Lanzarote, so arduous throughout history.
