A recovery program has improved 20 hectares of abandoned farms in La Geria
The Abandoned Farm Recovery Program was stipulated as a tool for recovering obsolete farms through an employment program for people with special needs.
Depending on the Landscape and Food Sovereignty Area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, so far more than 20 hectares of abandoned land have been recovered in the Protected Natural Area that includes the Crossing of La Asomada to the Uga board.
Given the special nature of La Geria, which combines elements of cultural, environmental and economic interest, actions have been developed to protect and recover the area. The group of workers, coming from several centers of the island, has restored the holes and walls that protect the vines, pruned the abandoned vines and eliminated stubble and weeds.
