MasDanza brings back to Lanzarote the best of contemporary dance

 In Dance, News, Theatre

The Víctor Fernández Gopar Theater “El Salinero” will once again be the stage where some of the best dance companies in the world, both national and international, parade. The cultural center dependent on the Cabildo de Lanzarote will host again, for the eighth consecutive year, the International Dance Festival of the Canary Islands, MasDanza, which this year brings to the island five companies from places as diverse as China, the Netherlands, Vietnam, Italy and Spain.

It will be this Friday, October 25, at 8:30 p.m., when the stage of the El Salinero Theater will once again cover linoleum so that dancers can dance on their boards Xingxing Gong (China); Tuan Tran & Joseph Simon (Vietnam, The Netherlands); Giovanni Leonarduzzi (Italy); Mengbo Li & Xingxing Gong (China); and Maddi Ruiz de Loizaga, Adrián Manzano Borrego & Arnau Pérez de la Fuente (Spain).

Xingxing Gong will be the first to act, presenting his show ‘Lost’, a piece choreographed by him in which he reflects on the loss and the encounter. Trial is a work by Tu Hoang that will be performed by Tuan Tran & Joseph Simon, from Vietnam and the Netherlands respectively. This second piece of the night starts from a perfect rapport, to generate, through very subtle gestures, tension between the two dancers until they clearly evolve towards two distinct identities.

The third show of the night will be ‘Sono solo tuo padre’, by the Italian Giovanni Leonarduzzi, who in addition to being the choreographer of the piece will also be in charge of interpreting it. Leonarduzzi investigates in this work about violence, guilt, fear, lies … and the desire to be another.

‘Exit’ is a piece created by Xingxing Gong played by Gong and Mengbo Li himself. With music by Ara Malikian, both dancers reflect on how the power of the human being is in the control of the soul over the mind and body.

Finally, the night will close with ‘Young Blood’, by Arnau Pérez de la Fuente. He and Maddi Ruiz de Loizaga and Adrián Manzano Borrego tell us about how this new generation of young people is prepared, but whose expectations are truncated by the mood of this society.
