A documentary highlights the role of rural women

The documentary ‘Mujeres al Alba’ which recounts the testimony of ten anonymous rural women who were part of the growth of the eight islands of the Canarian archipelago, will be presented and premiered for the first time in Lanzarote on Friday, December 14, at 20 : 00 hours, at the CIC El Almacén. Admission and access will be free, until full capacity is reached.

Through this documentary, directed by Mercedes Ortega Vega and produced by Pilar Guerrero, visibility is given to the women of the islands who contributed their work and humanity to the evolution of the archipelago, forging with the same part of the most recent history of the Canary Islands . Women who were born in a difficult time, the 50s in the Canary Islands, full of obstacles and isolation. Each of them represents, intimately and anonymously, an environment and a struggle.

The act of presentation and premiere of the documentary on the island is expected to be attended by two of the ten protagonists of these intimate stories. Enriqueta Romero Betancort from La Graciosa and Benjamina Marrero Duarte from the village of Las Breñas, are the two women from Lanzarote who appear in the documentary.

The event is also expected to be attended by the director of the documentary Mercedes Ortega Vega and co-director Pablo Emilio Quintana Mateos, along with some of the technical and shooting team. The editor of the documentary, José Antonio Jorge Díaz; the director of photography, Guillermo Trujillo Ravina; the sound director, Jonathan Estevez García; and the producer María Pilar Guerrero Cuenda.

Through the intimate story of different sequences of their lives, people who come this Friday, December 14, to CIC El Almacén, will know the traits and experiences of each of these Canarian women, who shared the same story of life .
