José Luis Guerín about the workshop:
“Unlike the territory, the landscape requires a precise location from which to observe. The adoption of a” point of view “, which would be the basis of the landscape, is also the most genuine operation of the filmmaker. to choose a physical location on which to fix the tripod, as before the painters did with their easel or the photographers with their “shots.” The consequences of this choice as basic as essential (where I stand, at what angle) , at what distance, at what height) guide our journey through the ideals and poetics of the landscape approached from the cinema, using projections, we will approach certain generic questions of schools and movements, to get into the landscape practice of the great authors. In this selection, necessarily personal, we start with the Lumiére operators and their primitive “films of views” to reach the most radical poetics the recent experimental cinema. Between both: national and colonial epics, mystical, historical, ethnographic, political and poetic visions.
