Lanzarote will host from the 11 to 17 February the ‘I Maths Week of Lanzarote’

Conferences

February 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the La Tegala Sociocultural Center, celebration of the conference ‘Wine and Mathematics’, by Luis Balbuena Castellano.

February 13, at 7:00 p.m., at the House of Culture of Arrecife. The doctor of mathematical sciences, Juan Antonio García Cruz, will also offer a talk on ‘Cartography and mathematics’.

February 14, at 7:00 p.m., in the Democracy Society. Matías Camacho Machín completes this program with another talk about ‘Why is it fulfilled or why not? The Mathematics’ test.

February 15, at 8 pm, at the Democracy Society of Arrecife. Music and its relationship with this science of mathematics also takes center stage in this special week, with a lecture by the president of the Carpe Diem Choir.

Carpe Diem Choir

This choir, with a long history in the Canary Islands and outside the archipelago, which is characterized by its composition, mainly teachers, teachers and teachers linked to teaching and research, will offer a concert at the end of this conference, and two other performances :

Reto Canario 2019 – IV National Encounter of Puzzles

Within this extensive program will also be developed the IV National Encounter of Puzzles that will be held in the Pavilion IES Blas Cabrera Felipe de Arrecife, with the Canary Challenge 2019 to try to mount in less than 42 hours a puzzle of 15 square meters of 42,000 pieces of wood, made with photographs of the island and made expressly for this challenge.

The IES Blas Cabrera Pavilion will be open throughout the day on Saturday, February 16, which will continue the challenge, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with puzzles for the little ones so that families can come to see the development of this spectacular team work.

The closing of the IV Meeting of the National Challenge of Puzzles and delivery of diplomas will take place in the pavilion on Sunday, February 17, starting at 12:00 noon (time at which the chronometer of the challenge will stop).
