Julián Elvira – Visual Music Festival

Expiral is an author show based on the relationship that arises between the breath and the vibration inside the tubes. In addition to the purely musical, it integrates several scenic elements, since the character of the pieces generates a texture of light, a choreography of movements and an atmosphere. In Expiral the shout and the whisper coexist; The entire work involves a rigorous exploration of some secrets hidden by the flute. Each proposal, each mixture of rhythm or melody, each loop or motif, is born from the meticulous research work that hastens the timbral possibilities of all the tubes used.

The classical concepts about sound that are to be produced by the noble and officially recognized tubes – flutes – and the anonymous, commoner tubes, rescued for a music that does not understand borders, are extinguished here and the miscegenation becomes strong, becoming unpredictable.

Julián Elvira is the creator of the “Flute Prónomo” and has become, in recent years, a reference musician in the field of experimentation and the avant-garde for transverse flute, being, in addition, one of the most versatile performers and transgressors of our country. His projects exceed any type of expectations for his performance component and for the development on the sound he generates from his research and creation work.
