Alfredo Montaña’s paintings are realistic, conceptual, post-modernist, or post-Café Gijón. What keeps me motionless in front of his canvases is the impulse to decipher the enigma of the singular human geometry that is established there: a cruel geometry of the flesh and the lack of communication, very long after. As if during the initial, prolonged observation of the hermetic characters that attract our attention, that landscape did not exist or we would have forgotten it.
