Final preparations for the Lanzarote Visual Music Festival 2019
The 16th edition of the Lanzarote Visual Music Festival will be held from October 12 to 19. It will take a whole week where the island will once again be the main focus of attention for lovers of contemporary music, which will stage some of the most unique spaces of island geography.
Created in 1989, at the proposal of the artist Ildefonso Aguilar, this artistic event integrates cutting-edge musical proposals with different artistic languages in complete harmony with the natural spaces of the island of Lanzarote, such as the auditoriums of Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes, where part of the proceedings will take place. Other stages of the Festival will be the Santo Domingo Convent and the El Almacén Cultural Innovation Center.
Festival revival
After fifteen years of pausing the idea, the Festival was resumed in 2017 with the double objective of recovering the prestige obtained in its previous editions and providing new elements that help promote the Island as a cultural destination.
The director and founder of the Festival, Ildefonso Aguilar, says that “the Festival makes Lanzarote the ideal setting to perceive and recreate the sounds of the musicians participating in each edition.” This Festival is a clear example of the perfect integration that exists between contemporary music and the island’s volcanic landscape.
Among the many artists who have gone through the Visual Music Festival there are great contemporary musicians such as Michael Brook, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Jon Hassell or Brian Eno.
The schedule for 2019
In the next few days the organization will inform about the participating artists, as well as the specific dates of the concerts and the sale of locations for each event.
This Festival is organized by the Culture Department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and is sponsored by the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism and the collaboration of Tourism Lanzarote and the City Council of Teguise.
