FIRST NAMES
On May 18, the first of the ‘Isla & Ritmo’ events will take place, which will serve as the starting point for this wonderful experience. This is the concert given by Jorge Pardo and Daniel García Trio at the Arrecife Gran Hotel. The first is a legend of Flamenco-Jazz, introducer of the flute in flamenco, along with Camarón and Paco de Lucía. An incredible musician, virtuoso and transgressor, awarded to the best jazz musician in Europe by the French Jazz Academy. The second belongs to the new generation of national talents, exquisite pianist, with a great career and international records that make him be a highly valued and required musician worldwide. The other two legs of the trio, Negrón “and Michael Olivera, are probably the strongest rhythmic bases of the current music market.
But the programming does not stop. At the end of June, in consecutive concerts on June 28 and 29, the island will visit the Pepe Rivero Trio whose last visit to the island was accompanied by nothing more and nothing less than Celia Cruz. He is a key pianist in his generation. In addition, special guests will be on stage with him. Of one of them, although his name can not be revealed until the day of the concert, yes it can be said that he is a prodigious international musician, awarded with 14 Grammy awards and awarded with the National Award of the Arts of the United States, the Nobel Prize for Culture.
As if this were not enough, in the month of July, on a date yet to be finalized, the International Canary Jazz Festival and Más Heneiken 2019 will provide an opportunity for the Lanzarotens to see in concert the great and mythical Maceo Parker. For those days, ‘Isla & Ritmo’ prepares a jam session in which Maceo Parker himself and his band can participate, as well as Judith Hill and his musicians like other Canarian artists such as Yul Ballesteros. A magical opportunity to enjoy in all its splendor one of the greatest saxophonists in the history of jazz.
‘Isla & Ritmo’ is just an opportunity to be part of something important within the culture of Lanzarote, a milestone that will bring quality to the experience of enjoying music with its musicians. For more information you can visit the project website.
