This book, Hormiga said, is “a kind of card of spiritual identity” of the architecture and buildings of the island and also explained that “its essence is what made people admire the architecture of Lanzarote.”

The work was published for the first time in 1974, whose editor was the architect and collaborator of Manrique Fernando Higueras. It was reissued by the Cabildo de Lanzarote in 1988. Now, 31 years later it becomes available to the public. This third edition is facsimile to the one published in 1974 and between the sections you can see texts and photographs and illustrations and drawings of Manrique himself and several authors, which reflect the geology and the insular landscape, the popular housing, the religious architecture, the military architecture, chimneys, doors and windows and mills, among other elements of traditional and popular architecture of Lanzarote.

Like the original of 1974, this new edition has 256 pages and a size of 26 x 26 cm. The Publications Department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote has been in charge of coordinating the new edition that has 2,000 copies that can be purchased in bookstores in mid-June at the price of 30 euros.
