The Janubio Folk Festival, loyal to its appointment with the cultural heritage of the island
On Saturday night, the Janubio Folk Festival took place, an essential appointment with the culture and tradition of Lanzarote, always framed in the Carmen fiestas of Playa Blanca. It featured the performances of ‘El Pavón’ by Tías, as a guest musical group, and the Janubio party that gives its name to the festival.
The Musical Group ‘El Pavón’ was founded in 1991 and has four discs published. He made an intense tour of songs from the land, his own creations and other rhythms that they brought from more distant places and stayed forever, like the habaneras or the boleros.
La Parranda Janubio, in gratitude for its passage through this festival, gave the Musical Group ‘El Pavón’ a chest with salt from Janubio and a message allusive to the invaluable work they do to maintain our cultural heritage. Then he went on stage to give attendees a complete and varied recital in which they also combined Canarian songs of Gran Canaria and Lanzarote or with sounds from the other side.
The audience, faithful to the appointment with folklore and tradition in the Fiestas del Carmen, thanked with generous applause the more than two hours of popular music offered by both groups.
