You can already visit ‘Manrique unpublished’: the hidden face of the artist
‘Unpublished Manrique’ is an amazing collection of photographs made to César Manrique by Linus G. Jauslin that until now had never seen the light. Open in the Convent of Santo Domingo de Teguise (Lanzarote) until next June 16, according to the curator of the exhibition, Carmensa de la Hoz, “is a reunion with César in their daily lives.”
Relatives and friends of the artist highlighted that the work of Linus G. Jauslin had captured the essence of César. Carmensa de la Hoz confessed “delighted with the enormous support we have received today from the entire society of Lanzarote”.
Through a selection of more than 100 images, G. Jauslin will discover visitors unprecedented moments lived along more than 20 years with César Manrique in his cultural visits to the Canary Islands, Madrid and Berlin. A photographic journey that begins at the beginning of the 70s in the Tenerife municipality of Puerto de la Cruz, at the inauguration of the Andromeda del Lago Martiánez room, and which closes just one month before the death of the Canarian artist, in September of 1992.
The exhibition is an intimate look at Manrique in all its dimensions, both personal and professional and creative, and includes, in addition to portraits, images of the author’s works in Lanzarote and Tenerife. Manrique unpublished is an exhibition framed within ‘Manrique100’, the extensive program of cultural and social events organized by the Cabildo de Lanzarote to commemorate the centenary of the birth of César Manrique. It can be visited from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
