The present contemporary moment, one of redefining objectivities, has prompted almost forty artists living in Lanzarote to present a striking audiovisual clip that seeks to transform the local art scene. Directed by Ubay T. Alemán, of the production company ROFE, more than 30 multidisciplinary artists are collaborating on this project with one clear aim: to promote responsible artistic consumption focused on the local.
This initiative underlines the importance of getting to know and backing authentic artistic projects, valuing both the quality of the production and the principles underpinning each work. Not all events or exhibitions are the same, and the aim is to promote a more selective and conscious approach to art.
The project recognises Lanzarote's unique value as a natural and cultural paradise, urging a balance between mass tourism and a genuine commitment to local culture and art. A call is made to the authorities to invest in the artistic and cultural industry and to create spaces conducive to reflection and dialogue.
This statement represents a call to action and reflection, inviting Lanzarote residents and art lovers to join this initiative that celebrates local talent, promotes culture and questions the excessive focus on tourism. The audiovisual piece, released on 26 September 2023, springs from a deep desire to give value to art in the Canary Islands and a solid commitment to emerging local talent.
