The Government of the Canary Islands has now published all the calls for grants to Canarian cinema for the 2026 financial year. Today, Wednesday 22 July, the Boletín Oficial de Canarias (BOC) includes those aimed at the development of feature films and series and at the production of short films, completing the extensive package of support for this sector. Throughout July, grants have been launched for minority production and co-production, for scriptwriting and for the organisation of events.
These grants respond to “the Canarian Government’s firm commitment to our audiovisual creation”, highlights Migdalia Machín, Minister for Culture. “They represent a great opportunity to develop projects born in the Canary Islands, which reflect the identity and creative talent that exists in our land and which has helped to make the Canarian audiovisual sector an international benchmark”.
The Directorate-General for Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries is behind these calls. The financial allocation for the grants for the development of feature films and series and for the production of short films is 520,000 euros, and the submission period runs from 23 July to 19 August 2026.
Applications must be submitted exclusively online through the electronic office of the Government of the Canary Islands. As a collaborating body, the Instituto Canario de Desarrollo Cultural provides access on its website to this and other procedures, their terms and other useful information.
