The Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz will host a new session of the Conciertos Hablados series this Thursday 16 July at 7:30 pm, featuring the sisters Ayla and Julia Rodríguez alongside Lanzarote musician Ciro Corujo. Admission will be free until the venue reaches capacity.
Daughters of the renowned Fuerteventuran timple player Domingo Rodríguez El Colorao, Ayla and Julia have established themselves as two of the emerging voices of Canarian folk music. Raised in an environment deeply rooted in the popular music of the archipelago, they have turned their family's artistic legacy into the starting point for a project of their own, one that combines respect for tradition with a contemporary outlook.
During the session, the two artists will share the stage with Ciro Corujo in an intimate, participatory format in which musical performance alternates with conversation. The audience will get a close-up look at the experiences, influences and creative processes that shape their repertoire, as well as the way they understand and update roots music.
The event forms part of the series promoted by Cultura Arrecife to bring music to audiences from a different perspective, uniting song and word in encounters that reveal the stories and emotions behind each piece.
