The Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz will host an acoustic concert by the Lanzarote group Calicanto this Saturday 20 June from 11:30, a band that has established itself as one of the island's musical benchmarks thanks to its carefully crafted vocal work and a repertoire centred on the roots music of the Canaries and South America.
Made up of around thirty members, most of them women, the group has built a career spanning more than a decade on stage, taking its songs to different municipalities in Lanzarote and to other islands in the archipelago. Their sound combines choral voices with string, percussion and wind accompaniment, offering a contemporary reading of genres and melodies rooted in popular tradition.
The recital will offer a closer, more intimate version of Calicanto's repertoire in an acoustic format designed specifically for proximity to the audience. Admission is free until the venue reaches capacity.
