Los Campesinos will share the stage with Los Cantadores and the solo voice of Tamara at the 37th Festival Campesino, one of the longest-running and most significant gatherings of traditional music and dance in Lanzarote. It takes place on 22 August, at 9:30 pm, in the José Ramírez Cerdá park in Arrecife, as part of the San Ginés festivities programme, with free admission. Traditional music, popular songs and a journey through the island's collective memory and identity will be at the heart of one of the standout dates on the summer cultural calendar.
This time, audiences will be able to enjoy a performance by Tenerife group Los Cantadores, one of the clearest musical references in the archipelago. Since they first emerged in 2008, the group has released five albums and played more than 700 live concerts across the Canary Islands. This year they come of age, marking 18 years on stage with a show that revisits the biggest hits in their repertoire alongside the new songs that will open this next chapter. Joining them is the popular Andalusian singer Tamara, whose career is full of memorable songs such as Siempre and Si nos dejan.
The Festival Campesino 2026 will open with the audiovisual piece “El poema diario de Titerroygatra”, a moving tribute to the men and women who helped shape the artistic and cultural imagination of Lanzarote through their music, their words, their painting and their craftsmanship. Among these essential figures are Agustín Espinosa, Ángel Guerra, Dorotea de Armas, Esperanza Spínola, César Manrique, Santiago Alemán, Félix Hormiga, José Saramago, Juan Brito, Gregorio Fuentes, Rafael Arozarena, Inocencia Páez, Josefina Pla and Luisa Linares.
“And of course, there will be the music, the voices and the dance of Los Campesinos, who at this 37th gathering keep looking to the future while helping to preserve and champion the island's roots, identity and collective memory,” said the group's president, Miguel Ángel Corujo, who thanked the Festivities Department of Arrecife Town Council, the Centros de Arte, Cultura y Turismo and the Culture Department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote for their support and sponsorship.
