Next weekend the landscape of La Geria will once again become one of the great meeting points of the fiestas of La Caridad, with a programme that combines food, traditional music and one of Lanzarote's most iconic scenes: the grape harvest with camels.
The celebrations begin on Friday 14 August at 8:00 pm at Bodegas Rubicón, with a popular enyesque (a spread of traditional Canarian snacks) accompanied by performances from the parrandas Sondemar and Janubio, in an evening that will bring together locals, visitors and many people connected with the wine sector and with the protection of the La Geria landscape.
Saturday 15 August brings the most eagerly awaited moment, with the traditional grape harvest at Bodega La Geria, where, from 10:30 am, the public can watch and take part in picking grapes with camels and then treading them in the winery's old wine press. The parranda Pal’ Porrón will provide the music for a day that draws hundreds of residents and tourists every year. At 7:00 pm, at the La Geria chapel, the Agrupación Folklórica Rubicón de Yaiza will give its traditional offering of music and dance to the patron saint.

The traditional grape harvest with camels has become one of the most distinctive celebrations in Lanzarote's festive calendar, paying tribute to the work of generations of winegrowers and winemakers who have preserved the farming landscape of La Geria, recognised as one of the most emblematic places on the island.
Throughout Saturday morning, the grape picking and treading will be repeated continuously so that visitors coming to the winery can take part, making the experience a chance to get a close look at one of the most representative traditions of Lanzarote's primary sector.
