The Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz will host the premiere of Trío de Raíz this Thursday 11 June at 19:30, a new musical project bringing together the sound of the Canarian timple (small five-string Canarian guitar), flamenco guitar and transverse flute in a journey through different traditions and musical languages.
The concert, free to attend until capacity is reached, brings together three highly experienced performers who explore the meeting points between Canarian folk music, flamenco, jazz and other contemporary influences.
The performers
- Alberto González Falcón (timple) — A member of Los Gofiones and one of the leading champions of the instrument most closely identified with the Canary Islands
- Manuel Cerpa (flamenco guitar) — A guitarist from Cádiz known for his collaborations with artists such as José Mercé and winner of the Premio Javier Molina de Guitarra Flamenca
- Gabriel Rodríguez (flute) — A Canarian musician with extensive experience in chamber music, jazz and flamenco productions
Repertoire
Among the pieces in the repertoire is Bacalao con pimientos, a tribute to the late José Antonio Ramos, a key figure in the evolution of the timple and a pioneer in bringing new sounds to the instrument. The performance promises an evening marked by improvisation, virtuosity and dialogue between musical cultures that share roots, emotion and creativity.
