On Wednesday 16 February, the programme of the International Festival Canarias Artes Escénicas 2022 (CAE) was presented, a cultural proposal taking place between 17 February, with the first school encounters and activities, and 21 May, through a total of 23 activities to be held in different theatrical venues and public spaces across the eight islands of the archipelago.
The programme of performances of this fifth edition of the CAE Festival will begin on 9 March at the Centro Cultural CICCA in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with a performance by the legendary actor Rafael Álvarez "El Brujo" staging the solo piece 'El alma de Valle Inclán'. This new artistic proposal by "El Brujo" can also be seen at the Teatro Municipal de Tías on 10 March at 8:00 PM.
As the Córdoba-born interpreter states: "during lockdown this singular man with a vibrant life inspired me. He soothed my melancholy and ultimately cured me of the drastic circumstances we were living through. I lived with him the luminous redemption he always confers on his characters. And I worked with the simple mystery of his stage directions in «Divinas Palabras»."
Tickets to see 'El Brujo' in Lanzarote are now on sale and can be purchased at this link, at a price of 10 euros. All information regarding the artistic programme of this fifth edition can be found in this Cooltura article or through the Festival's official website.
