On 17 and 18 October, visual artist Capi Cabrera will lead one of the Laboratorios de creación Identitaria Canarias at ARS Magna in Tías, a project for young people aged 18 to 30 that invites them to explore Canarian identity through artistic creation. Participation is free and no previous artistic training or experience is required.
The lab proposes a collective reflection on the territory, landscape, history and memory of the islands, using different visual languages. The sessions will work with tools such as drawing, painting, collage and photography to open a dialogue about the different ways of understanding what it means to be Canarian today.
Capi Cabrera
Born in Gran Canaria in 1983, Capi Cabrera produces work closely tied to island landscape and memory. His work has been shown in galleries and cultural spaces in Spain and abroad, and at fairs such as Just Mad, SWAB Barcelona and Context Miami. He recently also worked on the cover art and visualizers for El Baifo, the album by Gran Canaria artist Quevedo.
