The Ciclo de Cine Juventud Lanzarote continues this week with a screening of Between Two Worlds (En un muelle de Normandía), directed by Emmanuel Carrère, a film that addresses issues such as job insecurity, working conditions and inequality. The screening takes place this Thursday 27 August, at 7:00 pm, in screen 4 of the Multicines Atlántida in Arrecife, with free admission until capacity is reached.
The film follows Marianne Winckler, a renowned writer who decides to conceal her identity and start working as a cleaner in Normandy to investigate job insecurity from the inside and write a book about it. Along the way she comes to know the financial and work-related hardships of her colleagues and forms strong bonds with them, bonds that are put at risk when they discover who she really is.
The screening will be followed by a talk and discussion in which the audience can talk about and reflect on the issues raised by the film. The session thus keeps to the format of the Ciclo de Cine Juventud Lanzarote, which pairs each screening with a space for analysis around different issues of social interest.
