El Cine Ambulante de Verano (the summer travelling cinema) returns to Lanzarote this summer with a new edition that will take the seventh art to the island's seven municipalities between 9 July and 21 August. Organised by Tenique Cultural, the project revives the spirit of the old summer cinemas with a programme designed for enjoying films outdoors as a community, accompanied, as tradition dictates, by popcorn for the audience.
Screenings will take place every Thursday and Friday, always at 21:00, with a selection of films combining great classics, contemporary cinema, animation, thriller, science fiction and auteur titles. Each session will open with a short introduction and close with an open discussion for anyone wishing to share their impressions of the film, reinforcing the participatory character of an initiative that aims to turn every screening into a meeting point for neighbours.
The programme includes such well-known titles as Regreso al futuro (Back to the Future), Men in Black, Persépolis (Persepolis), Argentina, 1985, Ex Machina, Asesinato en el Orient Express (Murder on the Orient Express), Una historia del Bronx (A Bronx Tale) and Flores de otro mundo, in an edition that once again decentralises the cultural offering and brings it to every corner of the island.
