The Plaza de los Artesanos at the Casa Museo al Campesino will host six craft workshops on 29 and 30 May, organised by the Cabildo de Lanzarote to celebrate Canary Islands Day. The initiative aims to bring the different forms of Canarian craftsmanship to the public through participatory activities led by artisans and specialist organisations from the island.
Among the planned activities is the History, Extraction and Process of Cochineal Dye workshop, led by artisan María de la Concepción García; the Ceramics workshop, run by the Fundación Canaria Juan Brito; and the Palm Weaving (Empleita) workshop, led by artisan Yolanda Benedicta Torres Moreno.
Also on the programme: the Traditional Rosete Technique workshop on cushion support, taught by Estefanía González González; the Artisan Soap and Lip Balm workshop, developed by Mama Pepa, Jabones Artesanales de Lanzarote; and the Leather Craft — Introduction to Leatherwork workshop, led by artisan Víctor Socas Paz.
Activities are open to anyone interested, but prior registration is required, providing full name, phone number and email address. Each workshop has specific information on availability, times and duration. To participate, register through the Artesanía de Lanzarote website.
