La Santa is already warming up for its fiestas (patron-saint festivities), which will fill the village with atmosphere from 6 to 19 July with a programme designed for all ages. The calendar combines sporting, children's and cultural activities with some of the most eagerly awaited events of the summer, such as the verbenas (open-air street parties), the Milla Popular (popular one-mile road race), the colour festival and the sea-borne procession.
The main highlights include performances by Vocal Force and Tremendo Son, the popular La Santa Colors Fest, which will bring together several bands and DJs, the 8th Milla Popular, the traditional asadero popular (community barbecue) and the grand verbena on Saturday 18 July, as well as the religious and seafaring ceremonies on Sunday 19, the biggest day of the fiestas.
The programme also includes sporting championships, workshops, walks, competitions, children's activities, lucha canaria (traditional Canarian wrestling) and events for older residents, turning La Santa for two weeks into one of the main festive hubs of the summer in Lanzarote.
