El Almacén will host on 31 July a performance of ¿Quién teme a Virginia Woolf?, one of the best-known works by the American playwright Edward Albee. The company Chespir brings to the stage a faithful adaptation of the original text, regarded as a contemporary classic of world theatre for the way it explores human relationships through rawness, irony and emotional tension.
The play
The story begins when George and Martha, a couple marked by years of life together and falling out, welcome into their home a young couple newly arrived on the scene. What seemed like a friendly visit soon turns into a psychological game loaded with recriminations, manipulation and uncomfortable truths that drags all four characters into an increasingly suffocating atmosphere.
Through sharp dialogue and humour as acid as it is unsettling, Albee built a portrait of appearances and frustrations that remains every bit as relevant decades after its premiere.

The performance takes place at 20:00 at El Almacén. Tickets cost 6 euros and are already on sale through the Área de Cultura ticketing platform.
