On Saturday 26 September at 8:00 pm, the Teatro Víctor Fernández Gopar ‘El Salinero’ will host Supersaurio, a stage adaptation of the novel by writer Meryem El Mehdati. Ángulo Producciones brings to the stage a story about job insecurity, identity and hopes for the future, told through humour, music and a kitsch aesthetic.
The protagonist is Meryem, a 25-year-old Canarian woman with Moroccan roots who is trying to find her place while working at Supersaurio, a large supermarket chain in the archipelago. Caught between scarce job opportunities and the expectations weighing on her, the play builds a generational portrait that moves between irony and social critique, and also speaks about belonging and identity.
From novel to stage
Rosa Escrig directs the adaptation, with dramaturgy by Luis O’Malley and a cast made up of Delia Santana, Mingo Ávila, Alexia Rodríguez, Lucía Viera Ruano and Abraham Santacruz. The music is by Nacho Martín and the choreography by Darío Barreto Damas and Aleksandar Georgiev.
Supersaurio runs for approximately 75 minutes and is recommended for ages 12 and over. Tickets cost €10 and are now available through the Cultura Lanzarote ticketing platform.
