On 19 September, at 12 noon, the Casa Museo del Campesino will host Campesina, campesina, a contemporary dance piece inspired by the figure of the Lanzarote farmwoman, her relationship with the land and the toil of generations of women. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
Conceived, written and directed by Quino Falero, the piece carries elements of Canarian dances into a contemporary choreographic language. Dancers Vanessa Medina and Ángeles Padilla, who also created the choreography, embody two generations of farmwomen and, through movement, build an encounter between past and present, accompanied by an original score by Benito Cabrera. The Casa Museo del Campesino itself and its natural light are also part of a work conceived to unfold away from conventional theatre stages.
Produced by Futura Cultura Lab, Campesina, campesina was one of the projects selected in the 2025 call for cultural projects of the Centros de Arte, Cultura y Turismo de Lanzarote, which aims to foster new creative work and bring it into dialogue with the spaces designed by César Manrique.
