The Ayuntamiento de San Bartolomé presents its programme for Canary Islands Day 2026, a proposal that will fill various spaces across the municipality with tradition, music and popular culture on 29 and 30 May.
Activities kick off on Friday 29 May at 19:30 in San Bartolomé, with performances by Escuela de Folklore A.M.C. Timbayba and the participation of the "Tradición Isleña 2026" showcase from the Cabildo de Lanzarote. The day also features performances by parrandas Gurfines Son los del Puerto, Pal Porrón and Borrón y Cuenta Nueva.
On Saturday 30 May, Canary Islands Day itself, the traditional flag-raising ceremony takes place at 11:30 at Plaza León y Castillo in San Bartolomé. Playa Honda will also hold a festive day from 12:00 with a flag-raising and performances by the Escuela de Folklore and Teguey at the court adjacent to the Centro Cívico.
Tickets can be purchased through the Ecoentradas platform, with prices adapted to facilitate local access. Advance booking is recommended, especially for events that historically record high demand on the island.
The celebration of Canary Islands Day has become one of the standout dates in Lanzarote's cultural calendar, with activities in every municipality that highlight the hallmarks of the archipelago's identity: music, gastronomy, crafts and the traditions that define what it means to be Canarian.
