The Fiestas del Carmen funfair opens in Puerto del Carmen

The funfair of the Fiestas del Carmen de Puerto del Carmen opens today and will run until Sunday 10 August, offering two weeks of entertainment for residents and visitors as part of the patron saint celebrations.

New this year, the fairground will include, for the first time, specific measures to make it easier for autistic people and their families to access and enjoy it. Tías Town Council has driven the initiative with the collaboration of the SentirTE association and the support of the fairground operators, with the aim of moving towards more accessible and inclusive fiestas.

In addition, Tuesday 28 July and Tuesday 4 August will both be Children's Days, with reduced prices on the rides.

Support Point and Calm Space

The Town Council will set up a Support Point for autistic people and a Calm Space on 27 July and 3 August, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The service will be staffed by professionals from the SentirTE association in a marquee next to the fairground's Punto Violeta.

On both days, they will offer information, guidance and specialised support to autistic people and their families, as well as therapeutic intervention when needed. A decompression area will also be set up at El Fondeadero, conceived as a quiet space to support sensory regulation and rest for anyone who needs it.
