The Casa de la Cultura Benito Pérez Armas is hosting the exhibition El espacio libre until 26 June, a show by German artist Heike Krause that invites visitors to pause and contemplate work marked by simplicity, balance and a connection with nature.
The work
The exhibition brings together paintings, mostly acrylics on canvas, featuring landscapes, organic forms and elements inspired by Lanzarote's volcanic surroundings. Based for years in the municipality of Haría, Krause finds a constant source of inspiration in the island. Her work embraces minimalism and the paring down of elements in order to convey feelings of silence, harmony and well-being. The artist describes this search as a necessary response to the excess of stimuli that characterises contemporary life.
Opening and visiting times
More than thirty people attended the opening of the show, which will remain open to the public from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 20:00, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 15:00.
El espacio libre offers an unhurried journey through the work of an artist who has found in the landscapes and light of Lanzarote the perfect setting in which to develop an artistic language of her own.
