The Casa de la Cultura Benito Pérez Armas is hosting the exhibition Yaiza es luz until 12 August, a show by photographer Rosa García bringing together 28 images created using the lightpainting technique, a discipline that uses light sources and long exposures to build photographs without resorting to artificial intelligence or photomontage. The Ayuntamiento de Yaiza is supporting the initiative with introductory workshops taught by the artist herself.
The exhibition invites visitors to discover a different vision of Lanzarote through settings such as the Salinas de Janubio, the Parque Nacional de Timanfaya and various corners of the municipality of Yaiza. The works also address social issues, such as migration, using light as a creative tool to tell stories and offer fresh perspectives on the island's landscape and reality.
Alongside the photographs, the show displays torches, light tools and handmade devices designed by the artist to create her compositions during the long exposures. Visitors can therefore get to know the creative process behind images in which trails of light become the main artistic element.
The programme includes guided tours, participatory masterclasses and an introductory lightpainting workshop, to be held on 7 and 8 August. Those interested can sign up by sending an email to actividadescultura@ayuntamientodeyaiza.es.
The exhibition can be visited Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 13:30 and from 17:00 to 20:00, while on Saturdays it opens from 10:00 to 13:00. With this initiative, the Ayuntamiento de Yaiza continues to promote new artistic disciplines and bring contemporary creation closer to the public.
