San Bartolomé Town Council is launching the new Red de Senderos Locales de San Bartolomé (San Bartolomé Local Trails Network), an initiative that will offer seven free guided walks between July and December 2026 to showcase the municipality's natural, historical, cultural and ethnographic heritage.
The scheme aims to encourage a sustainable model of tourism, promote healthy habits and bring both residents and visitors closer to the knowledge and experiences offered by the most emblematic parts of the area.
Programme and routes
The programme will get under way on Sunday 19 July with the walk “Senderismo entre Chimidas y Tajaste”, a low-to-medium difficulty route taking in the volcanic panoramas of Caldera Honda and Caldera Llana, as well as old country tracks and traditional farming landscapes.
The calendar continues with the Ruta Poética por San Bartolomé (16 August), El Cabezo (20 September), a walk through traditional vineyards; Descubre San Bartolomé en familia (4 October); El Jable (18 October), focusing on the memory and surroundings of Zonzamas; Las Maretas de Guatisea (15 November), devoted to the history of water on the island; and it will close with the Montaña Blanca route (13 December), which explores one of the most remarkable archaeological and volcanic landscapes in the municipality.
All seven walks will be held on Sundays, last around three hours and vary in difficulty. Most will start at 9:00 am, while the family route begins at 10:00 am.
