'Arenas' revisits the creative universe of Ildefonso Aguilar at El Almacén

El CIC El Almacén will host the screening of the documentary Arenas, directed by the Tenerife filmmaker Miguel G. Morales, on Tuesday 26 May at 19:00. The piece delves into the creative process and artistic imagination of Ildefonso Aguilar, one of the fundamental figures of contemporary art in Lanzarote and the Canary Islands.

After the screening, a conversation will take place about Aguilar's artistic and audiovisual career and his influence on contemporary Canarian culture over recent decades. The event will feature the participation of Ildefonso Aguilar himself, the curator and art historian Dalia de la Rosa, and the music researcher Pompeyo Pérez Díaz, moderated by Adonay Bermúdez.

Miguel G. Morales is considered one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary documentary cinema in the Canary Islands. His cinematic work moves between memory, historical research, and the exploration of landscape and periphery, moving away from conventional documentary formats. Throughout his career he has directed works such as Taro. El eco de Manrique, Las manos, De los nombres de las cabras, and Escuchar la sombra, as well as developing various video installations and audiovisual projects linked to contemporary art.

Admission will be free and open until full capacity is reached.
