Cine Club Lanzarote pays tribute to the recently deceased Argentine director Adolfo Aristarain with a screening of Tiempo de revancha (1981), one of the most iconic films in his body of work and an essential reference in Latin American political cinema. The session takes place on 6 June at El Almacén as part of the film collective's regular programme.
Considered one of the great works of Argentine cinema, Tiempo de revancha combines the pace of a classic thriller with a critical gaze at the abuses of power and corporate structures during the years of military dictatorship. The film follows Pedro Bengoa, a former trade union activist who agrees to take part in a scheme to fake a workplace accident and claim compensation. However, the unexpected death of his partner transforms the deception into a far deeper battle against a powerful multinational.
With this tribute, Cine Club Lanzarote remembers a filmmaker who made social commitment and the defence of human dignity the hallmarks of his work. Tickets for the screening, on Saturday 6 June at 19:00 at El Almacén, are available through Ecoentradas.
