The documentary 'El Quemao' brings to the screen one of the most deep-rooted traditions of Canarian childhood

Sala de Arte Ermita San Antonio will host, on Thursday 28 May at 8:00 PM, the screening of the documentary El Quemao, directed by Maximino Álvarez Pérez. This audiovisual piece focuses on one of the most recognisable popular games in Canarian culture and on the social and human values that have accompanied this collective practice across generations.

Beyond the game itself, the documentary addresses El Quemao as a space for coexistence, neighbourhood identity, and shared memory, exploring concepts such as nobility, sincerity, cooperation, and childhood lived in community. The film offers a close and emotional look at a tradition that remains part of the popular imagination of many generations in the Canary Islands.

Admission will be free until full capacity is reached, and the screening is part of the cultural activities promoted at Sala de Arte Ermita San Antonio.
