The Cabildo (the island government) of Lanzarote has opened registration for a new edition of ‘Actívate Biciandando’, a free summer programme for children aged 8 to 12 that combines educational leisure, road safety education and healthy lifestyle habits through activities linked to getting around on foot and by bicycle.
The initiative, organised by the Road Safety Education Service (SEV), will run throughout July at the SEV facilities in Arrecife and at various venues around the capital. The aim is to encourage cycling as a sustainable means of transport, promote healthy journeys and reinforce road safety education in a practical, lively way suited to the school holidays.
The activities form part of the ‘Trenzando Huellas Ciudadanas’ programme, which the Cabildo runs during the school year and which in summer takes on a more playful, participatory format in order to keep working on values such as personal autonomy, road safety and respect for the environment.
The programme will run from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 12:30, in two blocks: from 6 to 17 July and from 20 to 31 July. Places are limited and registration is already open at the Road Safety Education Service, located on calle Yágabo s/n in Arrecife.
