On 25 June, the Cine Juventud Lanzarote season will screen The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the musical classic directed by Jim Sharman which, since its release in 1975, has become one of the most influential cult works in the history of cinema. The screening will take place at 19:00 at the Cines Deiland in Playa Honda.
The screening is part of an initiative run by the Youth Department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote (the island government), which organises a monthly session dedicated to films with social themes aimed particularly at young audiences. After the screening there will be an open discussion to reflect on some of the themes present in the film, among them sexual diversity, individual freedom and the breaking of social conventions, elements that helped turn the film into an international cultural phenomenon.
Admission is free and can be booked through the season's official website. The event also offers the chance to discover or revisit on the big screen one of the most emblematic and transgressive films in the history of musical cinema.
